Adeline is a character in Fields of Mistria and current town leader. She is one of the eleven characters who are romanceable.

Profile

Personality

Adeline is a hardworking person, who presents herself as a bit of a workaholic. Her passion towards Mistria drives her to focus on her administrative duties, with the downside of often neglecting her personal life and social needs – she is often scolded by the other townsfolk for working too hard.

A large part of her values is having a strong community and lasting stability for the townsfolk – this is seen with how often she initiates projects for the town’s renovations after she enlists the player’s help. She also writes reports for the town records so there's documentation for Mistrians of the future.

Whilst her work remains a strong source of enjoyment, she enjoys visiting the bathhouse and spending time with Reina and Celine.

Appearance

Adeline appears to be a young woman with darker skin and purple eyes. She has long, pink hair which is worn down with a single long ponytail on the side. She wears purple eyeshadow and nail polish which remains consistent throughout the year, with exceptions to her nail polish – she changes colours to pink for Spring, blue for Summer, and white for Fall and Winter.

Like all townsfolk, Adeline has unique outfits for each season and when on the beach.

Story

Adeline is the daughter of Baron Wiscar and Baroness Linnet and is sister to Eiland. The two of them grew up in Mistria and continued to live there, even after a destructive earthquake ravaged the town of Mistria, which forced her parents to the Capital.

Alongside Eiland, the two of them are left to manage what remains of Mistria. Adeline has made it her life's goal to restore the town to its former glory. With this goal in mind, Adeline puts up a request in Mistria’s name, detailing that in return of helping the town, whoever accepts the quest will receive the plot of land just south of the town. This is the request that the player will take on, which starts their journey in Mistria.

Relationships

Parents

Adeline seems close to her parents, specifically her mother as she mentions going on walks with her mother everyday before her parents returned to the Capital. Other than this, not much is known about her parents and it seems like she doesn't know how they are either, often wondering how they are.

Eiland

Her brother. They seem to be of a similar age and close since they were both young, even playing in the town's fountain as children. They both share a passion for Mistria, although in different aspects; Adeline is more focused on bureaucracy and town improvement, while Eiland is focused on the historical and archaeological aspects of Mistria. Whilst she doesn't quite understand Eiland's interest, she still supports and is happy for him.

Elsie

Elsie resides in the Manor House, alongside Eiland and Adeline. Whilst not blood-related, both siblings regard her as their "Aunt" and treat her as such. She seems to be a family friend and well-connected to the Capital, being a retired socialite.

Celine

Adeline refers to Celine as one of her friends and is often seen heading to the bathhouse with her and Reina. Celine thinks that Adeline is sweet and hardworking, and considers herself lucky to know her.

Reina

Reina is also someone that Adeline refers to as one of her friends, and often pushes her to take breaks. Alongside Celine, she also enjoys spending time with her in the Bathhouse, as well as relaxing in Adeline's office to keep her company as she works.

Quests

Most of the Story Quests that the player recieves from Adeline (i.e. quests for the improvements around town) are given sequentially — players must complete the previous improvement before recieving the next quest in order. The only exceptions to this is the 'Greet the Townsfolk', 'Repair the Bridge', and 'Restocking Mistria's Food Reserves I' quests.

After reaching two hearts with Adeline, the player will recieve a Heart Quest labelled "Official Town Business" in the mail, asking the player to meet her in her office at the Manor House.

Once the player enters the office, the "Official Town Business" quest will resolve, and the "The Smell of Drying Ink" quest will immediately begin.

4 Heart Event: "An Important Choice"

After reaching four hearts with Adeline, the player will recieve a Heart Quest labelled "An Important Choice" in the mail, asking the player to meet her in her office at the Manor House.

I have an important choice to make, and I wanted to get the thoughts of an average Mistrian to weigh in on it.

Once the player enters the office, the "An Important Choice" quest will immediately begin. After this quest is completed, the player will recieve a Lemon Pie on their birthday every year henceforth.

[NAME], I have wonderful news! Our careful budgeting efforts and appeals for grants to the Captial has borne fruit! We’ve been granted access to a special earthquake relief fund for rural areas that have been hit particularly hard. [Wow, congrats Adeline!] Thank you! We couldn’t have done it without your help as well, [NAME]. [Oooh, how much are we getting?] Well, it’s not a financial fund per say. But I still think it’s quite generous! We’ve been given a list of relief options to select from. Obviously liquid assets are rather tight in Aldaria at the moment, but we’ve narrowed it down to two options. For our first choice… A stockpile of stone and wood for everyone in town! I’m sure you can see the obvious value here. Ryis is working hard, but there isn’t anyone in town who couldn’t make good use of extra materials! Why I’m sure you yourself have some projects these supplies would help speed along! [Fences! Barns! Coops!] That’s the spirit! [Finally, I can start mass producing chicken statues!] W-well, that would be up to you… And for our second choice, heavily supported by my brother Eiland… A cookie care package from the “Really Big Cookie” Bakery in the Capital Eiland argues that it would give people the morale boost and energy they need to face up to the challenges of rebuilding. But… I think he just really likes sweets… Still, his proposal has enough merit that I thought it would be worth presenting to you, [NAME]. There’s no “wrong” answer! What do you, as a typical Mistrian, think the townsfolk would benefit from most? [That extra stone and wood would go a long way!] Ooh, I think so too! [Big cookie! Big cookie, big cookie!] Haha, well the idea certainly seems to have raised your morale, at least! Thank you, [NAME]! I knew you were the right person for the job! I’ll get these forms filled out, with any luck we can expect a delivery soon! > The next day, Adeline will send mail to the player’s house with either 25 stone and 25 wood or a big cookie, depending on the choice they made. <

6 Heart Event: "Chief Inspector"

After reaching four hearts with Adeline, the player will recieve a Heart Quest labelled "Chief Inspector" in the mail, asking the player to meet her at the Request Board in town.

It's time for my next inspection of Mistria! It's important work, would you like to come along for it?

Once the player walks close enough to the Request Board, the "Chief Inspector" quest will immediately begin.

There you are, [Player Name]. I'm so glad you could make it! I don't know if I've ever properly thanked you for handling so many of the requests from the board, it's certainly been a weight off my mind. Still, those are just the things people bring to me. It's important to take a more direct approach when it comes to assessing how the town is doing. And that's where this inspection comes in! We'll tour Mistria and make sure everyone has what they need. After you, Adeline! Why thank you, [Player Name]! A walk around Mistria sounds nice! I think so too! The scene cuts to you two checking in on the General Store, the Clinic, then the Carpenter's Shop. The scene transitions to outside the shop with Landen. Landen: Really Adeline, things have been going swimmingly in Mistria with you at the helm. Although... Try not to push yourself so hard, you hear? You must be exhausted with all that running around. Don't forget that taking care of Mistria includes taking care of yourself. Right [Player Name]? Landen leaves. Adeline: It's sweet of Landen to look out for me, but really... I'm okay! I just need to make sure I'm keeping on top of everything. Maybe we should take a break? Ah... but there's still a lot of ground to cover. Really, the town is doing great! True, but I want to make sure it stays that way, you know? We'll hike out to the Western Ruins next, then down to the Bay... Um, if you're up for more, that is. I won't keep you if you'd rather call it a day. I-I've really been enjoying your company, though. Well, look at that! I'm getting my second wind! Are you sure? Okay... let's do it! Okay, but let's try not to overdo it. O-okay. I'll try not to. The scene transitions to the Western Ruins, then near Hayden's farm, and after that the Tackle Shop. You two end up back in the town. I hereby pronounce this inspection... completed! Thank you again for coming with me, [Player Name]. I suppose I shouldn't keep you any longer, huh? And there's still some work to take care of on my desk when I get back... The work can wait, let's get something to eat and recharge. Oh! Well... that does sound nice. Can I interest you in a meal at the Inn first? Oh! Um... >I think I'd like that. Let's go... my treat!
