Fields of Mistria Wiki

The Kingdom of Aldaria is the setting of Fields of Mistria, with Mistria being just one of many towns inside it. All towns receive a Town Rank according to renown, earning them greater popularity and support from the Capital. Based on what the villagers say about it, the Capital seems to be a large city of culture and high energy, and is where the royal family lives. Various members of the royal family are mentioned, including Princess Delaphine[1].

Aldaria may be known for its metalwork particularly in jewelry, as March mentions the metal knotwork on the Lost Crown is well-regarded around the world, and Balor remarks that "Aldarians know their jewelry, eh?" after seeing the Family Crest pendant.

To the east is the Caldosian Empire.

History[]

In ancient times, the land was ruled by Witch Queens. Magic seems to have more accessible, given the title "witch," the many artifacts related to rituals which can be found, and the Stone Lantern with its ethereal glow. They likely respected dragons, as the Royal Sceptor, a symbol of authority, was decorated with the head of a dragon. It is possible the Dragon Priestess Seridia and the Dragonsworn who wore the Dragonsworn's armor are from this time period.

Though they were once part of the same civilization, as the age of the Witch Queens ended, the Caldosian Empire split from the Alda. They retain shared cultural and religious customs with early Alda society to the present day. The Alda entered the Dark Ages, where they existed as numerous, fractured tribes. The Kingdom of Aldaria was formed by uniting these groups, ending the Dark Ages.

Numerous artifacts can be found from Aldaria's past, including gauntlets, swords, and pendants. Some of these provide information on the kingdom's history. There seem to have been numerous conflicts, as the sword mentions it is likely from the "War of the Lilies" and the Lost Crown mentions an invasion by Caldosia.

In the current age, the existence of magic and monsters is questioned. The dragon Caldarus had his magic sealed, and the fate of other dragons is unknown.

Quotes[]

  • Adeline: As you know, Mistria is just one of the many towns that make up the Kingdom of Aldaria. All of them receive a Town Rank according to their Renown Level. Towns with a higher Town Rank enjoy more popularity and more support from the Capital.
  • Maple: That's where the royal family lives, you know!
  • The History of Aldaria (Eiland's Office): "Bringing the Dark Ages to a close, the fractured Alda tribes united to found the Kingdom of Aldaria."
  • Sister Kingdoms (Errol's Cabin): "The Caldosian Empire to the east of Aldaria is known to share cultural and religious customs with early Alda society. Evidence suggests that both originate from a single pre-Alda civilization, though little is known about them."
  • Eiland: Adding more Caldosian artifacts to the museum's collection would help us understand their split with the Alda after the age of the Witch Queens ended.
