Eiland is a romanceable character and of the many villagers in Fields of Mistria. He likes archaeology[1], and is head of the Historical Society. The other members are Errol, Terithia, and Olric, and he will invite the Player to join them. He believes that reconnecting with Mistria's past is the key to its future[2]. On day 2, he gives the Player the Worn Axe.
As the head of the Historical Society, Eiland has a deep interest in archaeology and the history of Mistria. Like his sister, he cares very deeply about the townsfolk and is working hard to make the museum a place of pride for the town. He has a major sweet tooth, as many of the people in town and his family comment, and is shown by his Loved and Liked gifts such as the Chocolate Cake and Ice Cream Sundae. He's somewhat carefree, and fails to notice things happening around him when he's invested in something he's doing, such as when he tries to chop down the tree blocking Caldarus's statue, apologizing when he realizes it's almost seven in the morning and he is making a lot of noise. However, like his sister, he is very warm-hearted and generous, especially after hearts have been earned. He greatly enjoys boardgames as evidenced by how he introduces two to the Friday Night get together for the town, though they are both games with historical significance
Appearance[]
Eiland has short, wavy, light pink hair. Eiland is always dressed very proper with expensive clothes as he is the son of the Baron and Baroness.
[NAME]! Welcome, welcome. Take it all in, isn’t it magnificent?
Forgive me if you’ve heard this before, but this whole site was only revealed after the earthquake
A location completely untouched for untold years! I could spend the rest of my life here and not uncover all of its secrets.
[Good thing you’ve got an assistant now, huh?] I’d say you’re more of a collaborator! You’ve got a talent for archaeology, [NAME].
[Bet there’s a lot of treasure around!] Anything we can find here could have immense archeological value! Let’s keep our eyes open.
The writing you uncovered at the stele was illuminating.
It implies that the people who hid the Dragonsworn armor believed that its ability to defend wasn’t just in wearing the armor itself.
They thought that a single piece of armor could protect an entire area.
Which makes me believe that the Western Ruins are a good candidate for uncovering more pieces!
So are you ready to roll up your sleeves and begin the hunt? It’s a big site to cover!
[NAME], that’s it! That’s the Dragonsworn’s helmet!
And look at the pristine condition it’s in, despite being hidden away on a seaside cliff! Remarkable!
And… yes. More writing. Between cataloging the helmet, translating this, and deducing where the next piece of the armor is, I’ve got my work cut out for me!
[It’s your time to shine!] You’re right! I need to rise to the occasion.
[Anything I can do to help?] Thank you, but you’ve already done so much! I won’t let you down!
I’ll let you know when we can begin our search for the next piece of the armor set. Thank you, [NAME]!
6 Heart Event: "The Manor"[]
Receive a letter from Eiland asking you to meet him at the manor, as the search for the next piece of the Dragonsworn Armor has taken an unexpected turn.
Thank you for coming, [Player Name].
Where are we off to? Ancient ruins? A forgotten temple?Haha... about that...
Let me guess, you found a secret labyrinth in the Manor!Haha, well... in a sense?
After translating the text and putting the clues together, I have become convinced that the next peice of the armor is...
In this very house.
I belive we are looking for the Dragonsworn Cloak, a truly excellent example of "Dynweaving" that imparted the cloth with incredible durability.
Legends say it could turn aside swords, and even arrows couldn't pierce it.
However, at some point the cloak became a symbol of the leader of Mistria. As fashion sensibilities changed, well...
Frankly, I think it ended up tucked away in some odd corner of the house.
Luckily for us, nothing ever gets thrown away around here.
It's hardly an adventure, but can I count on you to help me search?
I'm in! What are friends for?Thank you, [Player Name]!
Maybe we'll leave today's adventure out of the history books...Haha... I was thinking the same thing.
Now as you might imagine, I've already done a thorough job of combing through my own rooms. So we'll start with my sister's office.
(You two walk over to Adeline's office. Adeline and Elsie are present.)
Adeline: Hey, you two!
Let me guess, you heard I was consolidating old council minutes and want in on the action?
Elsie: Don't feel bad saying no. I'm just keeping Adeline company.
Eiland: [Player Name] and I are on an important mission, hunting for the cloak of the Dragonsworn.
I believe it may be somewhere in this very building!
Elsie: Oh my, how exciting!
Adeline: Well feel free to search my office, but I don't think that I've seen anything like that here.
Elsie: I suppose I should conduct a search of my own room then.
Eiland: Oh, I'd be happy to help-
Elsie: Let's leave your auntie some privacy, eh?
Adeline: This takes me back. It's a bit like the signet ring all over again, isn't it?
When we were kids, Eiland found an old ring down in the basement.
He liked it so much he and Mother did a bunch of research to find out whose crest was on it.
Eiland: It turned out to be the signet ring of a very, very old Caldosian dynasty, long thought lost.
Adeline: Well Mother was so proud, she had it sent off to the Capital to be verified, and then the Caldosians got word of it...
The Caldosians must have been thrilled! Eiland:It ended up being a bit of an international incident, actually.
Let me guess, you didn't get your ring back? Eiland: It would have ended up in a museum regardless, but no.
Adeline: Well, it certainly gave you your taste for archaeology at any rate.
Eiland: And the Caldosians got their ring back eventually. I even got an official thank you letter from their Emperor.
Elsie: Fooooound it!
Eiland: Aunt Elsie, perhaps you should let a certified archaeologist check first-
It really IS the Dragonsworn Cloak! It certainly doesn't look that ancient, does it?
Adeline: Wherever did you find it?
Elsie: In my wardrobe. When I moved in I just shoved everything still in there as far back as it would go.
Eiland: Can you believe it, [Player Name]? The third piece of the Dragonsworn Armor! Were there any notes with it? A storage box?
Elsie: Oh no, it was folded up among a pile of old blankets.
Eiland: I was afraid of this.
With no clues, it will make the next piece that much harder to find.
Adeline: Maybe it's recorded somewhere in the annals of the house? Those go back hundreds of years.
Eiland: I think that might be our best bet.
Let's hope our quest doesn't end here, [Player Name].
We won't stop till we complete the armor! You're right! This is just another challenge to overcome.
Three out of however many ain't bad! It's true, what we've recovered so far is amazing.
Elsie: Whatever comes next, I say it's high time to celebrate what you two have achieved.
Eiland: And you!
Elsie: Just so! I'm going to get a bottle of that very old wine from down cellar.
Adeline: Cheers everyone!
