Ranching is unlocked after repairing the mill in town. Hayden will invite you to his house the next day and provide a tutorial. Adult animals drop produce and can be bred to unlock new colors at two hearts. Feeding and petting animals once everyday raises their affection with the protagonist. Animals can be fed indoors through troughs, grazing outside, and hand feeding. Animals like to be called outside on sunny days, but avoid bringing them out in bad weather.

Breeding[]
The player can breed animals by using their heart-shaped treat on one adult male and one adult female. To feed the animal, walk up to it and interact with it while holding the item. The animals you select must have at least two hearts and share a barn/coop that has free space for a baby. After this, the female will become pregnant or lay an egg. Both the male and female will be unable to take another heart-shaped treat until the pregnancy is over. After a certain amount of days, the mother will give birth or the chick will hatch and the player will be allowed to pick a name.
At first, only Tier 1 colors will be available at Hayden's Shop. After birth, the color variant of both sexes will be available for purchase.
Breeding parents of the same tier color will usually result in a baby with the next tier rarity up. The actual color of the baby is randomly picked from all color variants of that tier.
For example: Tier 1 + Tier 1 = Tier 2 baby. [Seems to be more likely if the parents are different variations of the tier e.g. Black T1 Cow + Spotted T1 Cow]

Breeding two animals of different tiers can also result in a higher tier baby, but this seems to be more rare (e.g. Tier 2 + Tier 3 = Tier 4 rarely)
Tier 6 is the highest rarity and consists of season-themed animals (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter). The Tier 6 variant produced depends on when the treats were given to the parents. For example to produce a Spring color baby, the treats must have been given to the parents in Spring.

Tier 6 are also produced more rarely - T5 + T5 is not always T6
