Ryis is chill, always up to give a hand when needed, and hardworking. He worries a lot about his friends - mainly March.

Story

Ryis used to live in the Capital with his parents and sisters before he moved to Mistria with his uncle Landen. His family back at home owns a bakery. Ryis also admits that he had to learn carpentry because and he had not done it before moving from Capital.

Receive a letter from Ryis asking you to come over to the Carpenter's Shop to get started on building a birdhouse as the Hawthorn tree looks big enough to support one. (Note: The tree is still a sapling if you pass by it anytime before this quest is completed.) Landen: -And that's why I always keep a full set of hammers on my toolbelt at all times. Ryis: I don't know, a full set of screwdrivers on hand seems more useful. Landen: What if we added a tool... bandolier? Then you could bring everything! Ryis: There you are! Landen: Here to help with the birdhouse project? Sounds fun! Tell you what Ryis, I'll take over your shift running the counter. Ryis: Thanks, Uncle. This is exciting isn't it? I've been laying aside materials for the project while we've been waiting for the tree to grow big enough. I like working on the big town projects with you, but there's something nice about collaborating on something small, right? It'll be fun to get the details just so! (He winks at you.) You get it! Yeah, it's more intimate. (He blushes.) Y-yeah... Let me get out my blueprints and we can go over them together! The scene cuts to a building montage. Landen: Well now! That house is much too fine for a bird! Ryis: We might have gotten a little carried away. It was really fun to build! It sure was! It's better than a birdhouse. It's a bird... home. I'm sure the Mistrian Bluebirds will feel the same way! Landen: Paint looks like it's dried nicely. Why don't you two hang it, and I'll whip up a celebratory treat for when you two get back? Maybe Ryis didn't tell you this, [Player Name], but I make a mean Coconut Cream Pie. Ryis: Sounds great! We shouldn't be gone long. The scene cuts to you and Ryis in front of the tree with the birdhouse now attached. Ryis: Feels good and secure to me. Those bluebirds are going to be SO surprised. So what's next? We keep our eyes peeled for our prospective homeowners. I'll let you know the moment I spot a bit of blue. So now we need to make a bluebird whistle, huh? That would be fun, but I worry it might make the birds think this spot is already taken. But for right now, I think it's time for pie! Come on, we'd better get back before Uncle Landen decides he's tired of waiting.

2 Hearts: "Bird Song"

Receive a letter from Landen. "[Player Name], Do you have any extra wood to spare from clearing your farm? We're working on a project and supplies are short in Mistria at the moment. I can pay 150t for 15 pieces! Just drop it off with me when you have it! Landen" When you drop the item off you will teleport to the Carpenter Shop. Landen will tell you to go get Ryis while he mans the shop. Ryis: [Player Name]! This is a surprise! Message delivery! I'm Impressed you found me! Your uncle told me where you were! Ryis: Of course you fulfilled Uncle Landen's request! You're a lifesaver [Player Name]. Now we can finish up a commission that's been on hold. I suppose I should wrap up my break... What a pretty spot. Isn't it? I come here to relax. What were these ruins of? Before the earthquake there was a tree here, with an old birdhouse in it. The birds that lived here had the prettiest songs. 'Course, the earthquake took the tree down and smashed the treehouse. Pretty sure the birds got away safely though. I should really get around to setting up a new birdhouse for them... though it feels a bit silly when I've got so much work to do around Mistria as it is It's not silly, I think it's cool! It's a good idea! Those birds could use your help too. Thats a good point! You know what, you're right [Player Name]. It'd be a fun project! I hope I can count on your help? Great! Unfortunately I think my break really is over now. i'll let you know when I've got some time to focus on this!

4 Hearts: "A Sapling"

Receive a letter from Ryis. [Player Name]! Welcome to my room. Sorry it's a bit cramped, I tend to bring my work upstairs with me... It's cozy! Very you. If you think this is bad, you should see my farm. I can see we're birds of a feather. So according to my big book of Aldarian birds, we're dealing with a Mistrian bluebird! They're similar to their continental cousins, but have a few key differences. Most notably, they're quite the singers! They're not picky nesters, but they seem to prefer hawthorn trees. So what if we grew a hawthorn to put their new birdhouse in? That'll bring them back for sure! Right? It'll be the perfect spot! Thorns to protect your house, huh. Maybe I should get some... Haha, sounds like a fun woodworking project. Balor: There you are! Balor: Here's your Hawthorn tree sapling, the finest I could procure. Ryis: Excellent, thank you Balor. Balor: You've brought [Player Name] in on your project as well? I can see you want to do this right. Ryis: Of course! Balor: Let's settle up the tab over cards some time. Now, I'm sure you two want to get this sapling into the ground, so I'll leave you to it. Ryis: He's right. Shall we, [Player Name]? ...And that's that. We'll have plenty of time to work on the bird house while the tree grows. Anything I can do to help hurry it along, [Player Name]? Check on it every day! Works for me! Give the tree compliments every day! Hey uh, tree... those are some healthy looking... leaves? I'll keep practicing... Thanks for all your help today, [Player Name].
